SELLING OUR BOOKS
HOW WE OPERATE
It is our intention to sell through retail outlets. Our terms are weighted for 30 day accounts although we can supply at longer terms. Over the years we have built up major email lists and give advance information of our new publications as they appear.
We are especially interested to hear from new vendor outlets and will happily dispatch any size of order - even one book. We can dispatch new orders from stock and if received by 12 noon will be sent out the same day, usually Royal Mail second class post.
To meet a growing trend we are also pleased to supply web based retailers on a demand basis. JPEGs and book descriptions can be forwarded as a back-up service. Additionally, we supply a number of customers with Consignment stock on a sale or return basis and update/deliver new stock periodically throughout the year.
We have in the past tended to only advertise within our own products although we have occasionally advertised in the trade press. Because most of our energy is centred around the development of this web site we intend to maintain that policy. At its height in December 2005 our site was getting 16,000 hits a day, that topped the 25,000 mark in 2007 and we inted to keep on developing the overall site, including our web magazines.
Ours is a small, family run business which has a prodigious and professional output. Because of that we are flexible enough to be able to change quickly - so we welcome your input.
It was input from our vendors which saw the production of THE HOLYROOD COLLECTION: 80 FAVOURITE MARCHES and I would recommend that if you only stock one pipe music book then this should be it. It has all of the simple and popular Marches that any learner piper would ever want - and all in one low priced book. That is why it was the best selling book of 2004 and was out of print by the end of the first summer. It is now in its third print and still selling very strongly.
THE MacCRIMMON PIPERS OF SKYE; A TRADITION UNDER SIEGE continues to attract critical acclaim and was recently listed on the recommended books in Scottish universities. The first print run is expected to sell out in February 2008. Following on the success of the book the author was invited to speak as a guest lecturer at the University of the Highlands & Islands in February 2007. Likewise THE PIPING LEGENDS OF THE MacCRIMMONS OF SKYE has been successful and has now reprinted 2 times.
The publication of THE CLAN CAMPBELL OF ARGYLL is intended to be the first in a series of moderately priced Clan & Tartan books aimed largely at the visitor market. THE ROYAL PIPERS is the second in that series, also crossing over into our traditional piping market. It has been a phenomenal success for us and was our best selling book of 2007.
A new series began in 2007 was the DAVID GLEN COLLECTION OF ANCIENT PIOBAIREACHD, a seven book series which has been out of print for over half a century and almost totally ignored since the 1920s. Despite that it is highly rated by Piobaireachd experts and is a welcome addition to this scant genre.
Other publications are scheduled to keep our pot simmering away and give our readers a continual menu.
