A 2-day workshop aimed at pipers who are either in leadership positions or wish to
advance their knowledge in this vital area. This course is specifically aimed at Pipe
Majors, Pipe Sergeants and Teachers. It’s concept came from an article in PIPING WORLD - ‘Who Teaches the Teachers’ and is aimed at giving first-class assistance to those who influence the playing of others.

SCHEDULE
DAY 1 10am-5.30pm
THE BAND: how to set up the pipe section of a pipe band or section of pipers including pitching chanters and tuning.
TEACHING: using speed learning techniques to play in phrases
FUNCTIONS: the role of a pipe major and pipe sergeant - delegating successfully
TECHNIQUE: methods of improving piping technique
PERFORMANCE: playing in public - how to present your band/group in the best light
PERFORMANCE SESSION 1: running a practice (participant involvement session)
OPEN SESSION: Open Question & Answer problem solving session
DAY 2 10am-5.30pm
PRACTICE METHODS: different ways to run a solo, group of band practice session
PIPING: success or failure - how the top players reach the top
TEACHING: around the table - different methods
PERFORMANCE: competition - the pros and cons
RUNNING A BAND OR PIPING GROUP: recruiting, player retention and motivation
PERFORMANCE SESSION 2: running a practice (participant involvement session)
OPEN SESSION: Open Question & Answer problem solving session
