In 1981 I was appointed Pipe Major/Instructor of the Sultan of Oman’s Royal Band and since then teaching piping has been an integral part of my piping service. After my experience in Oman I was recruited to become pipe major in the Royal Australian Regiment. I led both to great success in competition which included a number of my pipers also being successful in solo competition.
These days I teach through the medium of THE PIPING SCHOOL, a dedicated service which offers on-line tuition through skype, workshops both at home and abroad and through a dedicated series of quality publications as well as CD ROMS, CDs and download lessons and sound files.
While in the past I have taught several pipers who have gone on to become pipe majors of their own civilian pipe bands as well as two pipers who have become army pipe majors, one of whom also became senior instructor at the Australian Army School of Piping I have taught many pipers who just wished to play at a social level.
In the past dozen years I have taught in Australia, Scotland, England, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, Holland and The Holy Land.
I teach pipers of all ages and all standards - from complete beginners aged 9 to 69 up to competition level pipers.
