The MacPhersons provide an important link in the history of the Highland pipe. Renowned as outstanding performers and teachers this family of pipers also served Cluny MacPherson and their clan. The story of the MacPherson Pipers of Badenoch is on firmer ground after the 1745 Rising and by a quirk of fate the disaster of Culloden saw them move to Skye where they came under the influence of John MacKay of Raasay, one of the greats of Piobaireachd. In turn the MacPhersons passed that style on through their own pupils and their teaching represents the predominant strand of playing that we have today.

This book takes a look at the family members, their music and their influence on piping.

Author Bruce Campbell has spent a lifetime both playing and studying piping. THE MacPHERSON PIPERS of BADENOCH is his seventh piping history book.

This book is extensively illustrated.
