“For some the Highland pipe is a serious instrument, to be played with skill and care and to consume a lifetime in its study ... but to me, it’s even more important than that - it is life itself.”

Australian championship speculation
Added 6 January 2012
SPECULATION is mounting that at least one, and maybe two, Grade 2 bands will be upgraded before the 2012 Australian Pipe Band Championships.
Only 2 bands are currently expected to compete in Grade 1 - with the West Australian Police becoming firm favourites to win the Ballarat event.
The last time a band was upgraded on the eve of the Aussie nationals was in 1998 - when City of Adelaide went on to win after controversially being promoted after they had been first offered an opportunity to play ‘up a grade’ which is against the rules and was withdrawn after an objection.
