SCOTLAND’S HIGHLAND GAMES is a part of the Highland Media Group, publisher of on-line web magazines, music books and generally deeply immersed in the promotion of Highland culture.
Our first publication, Piping World, appeared in 1986. Today, hmg is owned by Susan Campbell while much of the material appearing in this site is edited by Bruce Campbell. Contributions are always sought from other sources and writers and over the years we have been able to publish material from some of the best names in our genres.
This web magazine is intended to be a one-stop portal for information on the Scottish Highland Games circuit. In addition to A-Z and chronological guides to the various Highland Games there is also an archive containing articles about the Games and the people involved in it. Many of these articles are drawn from the archives of our print publications over the years although new articles bring vibrancy to the site.
However, a word of caution - be wary of travelling to any Games without first confirming the date and then, closer to the event, that it is actually on. Although we try our best to ensure that all information is accurate, it is not possible to guarantee that information and in 2007 and other years there were cases of Highland Games being cancelled by the organisers without any public notification at all. We are attempting to help that situation with the provision of our Home Page which will carry news updates and a planned recorded telephone message service which will bring the latest of which Games are on in the week ahead.
